RAC does not charge for its services, and as a nonprofit organization, relies on the generous support of the community to sustain its programs. In addition to financial support, we welcome in-kind contributions (products or services), as well as volunteer involvement in many different areas. Many have settled in City Heights. In a year of 2011, according to local resettlement workers, about 5,000 arrived in San Diego, leading some local refugee advocates to call San Diego the refugee capital of the United States.
Many of these immigrants and refugees have endured significant hardships in their native countries, including poverty, war trauma, persecution and rape.
